US retailers, including Walmart and Target, are launching back-to-school sales campaigns much earlier than in prior years. These promotions, starting this week, are timed to capture consumer spending ahead of Amazon's Prime Day later this month. Although many children do not start school until late August or September, retailers are pushing for an early start to the back-to-school season in July to maximize sales during the competitive summer shopping period.
