On June 27, 2024, California lawmakers officially passed a measure requiring high school students to take a financial literacy course. Governor Gavin Newsom announced an agreement that mandates all California high school students to complete a semester-long personal finance education course starting by the 2027-28 school year. This new requirement will be necessary for graduation and removes the question from the November ballot.
