Venture Global said the U.S. Department of Energy has approved its request to uprate the Calcasieu Pass liquefied natural gas terminal in Louisiana, allowing the facility to raise permitted liquefaction capacity to 12.4 million tonnes per annum. The authorization removes a regulatory hurdle for the company, which began exporting LNG from the site in 2022 and has sought to expand shipments to meet rising global demand. Separately, Commonwealth LNG selected France-based Technip Energies to deliver engineering, procurement and construction services for its proposed 9.5-million-tpa export project in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. Commonwealth expects to take a final investment decision in the second half of 2025 and aims to start production in 2029.
