Entergy $ETR gets LPSC approval for infrastructure investments to support Meta's $META new data center in Richland Parish. The project includes three new generation facilities and transmission upgrades, enhancing Louisiana's electric grid.
The Louisiana Public Service Commission has approved Entergy Louisiana’s plan to build three natural-gas-fired generation facilities and undertake associated transmission upgrades to supply electricity to Meta Platforms’ forthcoming data center in Richland Parish. Entergy said the investment will bolster grid reliability in the state while ensuring dedicated power for the hyperscale campus. Separately, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and the Lower Colorado River Authority announced that Phase One of the Timmerman Power Plant in Maxwell is now commercially operational, marking the first project backed by the Texas Energy Fund to reach service. The gas-fired unit adds 380 megawatts of dispatchable capacity to the ERCOT grid and is expected to support more than 300 jobs; a second phase is scheduled for completion in 2026.
