EU 🇪🇺 INTENDS TO PURCHASE €40B WORTH OF AI CHIPS IN US TRADE DEAL
The European Commission said the European Union plans to buy about €40 billion worth of artificial-intelligence chips from suppliers in the United States as part of a new transatlantic trade agreement announced on 29 July. The purchase, equivalent to roughly $46.3 billion, is intended to secure advanced semiconductors for the bloc’s rapidly expanding AI sector and deepens economic ties with the U.S. Technology companies and chipmakers stand to benefit from the order, which marks one of the largest single procurements of AI hardware by a government entity.
