European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič said the European Union and the United States are keeping their joint “zero-tariff” list open for further additions, signalling room to expand duty-free trade beyond the products already covered. Šefčovič added that strategic purchases of U.S. artificial-intelligence chips are already included in the agreement, underscoring the two sides’ intention to safeguard supply chains for critical technologies while avoiding new duties. The comments come as Brussels and Washington prepare for the next round of Trade and Technology Council talks aimed at deepening transatlantic economic cooperation.
