U.S. Trade Representative Dana Greer said in a CNBC interview on Monday that the European Union is prepared to recognise certain U.S. auto standards as part of ongoing trans-Atlantic trade talks. She added that Washington and Brussels still need to resolve differences on steel and on the bloc’s planned digital-services taxes, describing both issues as priorities in the next negotiating round. Turning to China, Greer signalled that no significant breakthrough is expected in the near term but stressed a desire to “move forward in a positive way.” She said the United States will keep monitoring the existing trade agreement and noted mutual interest from former President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping in holding a meeting to advance discussions. Greer also said the administration continues to engage with Indian counterparts on a range of trade matters, without detailing specific targets or timelines.
