Finland will implement the European Union's Sanctions Criminalisation Offences Directive into national law starting May 20, 2025. This legislation will increase the maximum corporate fines related to sanctions violations. In conjunction with this, the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has launched a new Sanctions e-Service designed to facilitate interactions with the Sanctions Unit for companies, authorities, and citizens. The service aims to streamline the process of handling sanctions-related matters, improving accessibility and compliance. Additionally, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is set to revise its fining guidance concerning economic crime and drink driving offenses.
