France has transferred the first group of 17 narcotics traffickers to the newly opened high-security prison in Vendin-le-Vieil. This facility is the first in the country specifically designated to house the most dangerous drug traffickers. The transfer was announced by French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin. The prison has been described as having a unique environment, with one lawyer referring to it as a 'co-working space.' Meanwhile, the French prosecution has requested that the Gendarmerie verify the identities of foreign inmates in the prisons.
