The French military artificial intelligence start-up Comand AI has announced a fundraising of €8.5 million, led by the Eurazeo fund. Founded in 2023 by Loïc Mougeolle and Antoine Chassang, the company aims to challenge established players like Palantir in the defense AI sector. Its flagship product, Prevail, is a software suite designed to enhance military decision-making, enabling officers to make decisions four times faster and automate operational feedback. The software integrates the doctrines of client armies and their allies, as well as opposing forces, and is currently being tested by the French Army during an exercise in Saumur. Comand AI has already secured contracts with Germany and France and plans to expand Prevail's application from terrestrial maneuvers to other domains such as air, sea, space, and cyber. The finalized version is expected by summer 2025. The company emphasizes its focus on creating software specifically tailored for military command, contrasting itself with competitors like Palantir, which it claims offers more generic platforms. The team includes AI experts from Palantir and OpenAI, and 20 recruitments are underway to strengthen its workforce. The global market for military AI software is estimated at $60 billion annually, with Comand AI targeting €1 billion in future revenue.
