In 2024, Germany experienced a sharp increase in anti-Muslim incidents, with a total of 3,080 cases documented, marking a 60% rise compared to 2023's 1,926 cases. The civil society network CLAIM reported that these incidents include verbal attacks, spitting on women wearing headscarves, and 77 attacks on mosques. Women were predominantly targeted in most cases, with an average of more than eight anti-Muslim incidents occurring daily. The report highlights a growing trend of increased brutality and uninhibited violence in these offenses. Meanwhile, in France, anti-Muslim acts surged by 75% in the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, with 145 incidents recorded against 83 previously. The French Ministry of the Interior also noted that antisemitic acts remain at a very high level, with 504 cases, alongside 322 anti-Christian acts. In Germany, politically motivated crimes against Christians and Christian institutions increased by over 21% in 2024, although documentation of such crimes is incomplete. The rise in attacks on religious minorities in both countries underscores growing concerns about religiously motivated violence and discrimination in Europe.
