France’s Professional Football League on 11 August unveiled Ligue 1+, a dedicated pay-TV and streaming platform that will carry almost the entire domestic top-flight season. Operated by LFP Media, the service opens subscriptions at €9.99 a month for the first three months, before reverting to €14.99, and is available through telecom boxes, the Ligue 1+ app, DAZN, RMC Sport and other distributors. Amazon Prime Video undercuts rivals with a promotional €12.99 monthly rate on a 12-month contract. Ligue 1+ will broadcast eight of the nine league fixtures live each matchday and show the Saturday 17:00 game, sublicensed to beIN Sports, on delay after midnight. The channel promises 20 hours of live programming every weekend, supplemented by behind-the-scenes access, new studio shows and former internationals such as Adil Rami and Souleymane Diawara on commentary. Early demand appears brisk. Nicolas de Tavernost, director-general of LFP Media, told RTL the number of subscriptions since the platform opened was “very important and very encouraging,” adding that the league aims to reach one million customers by the end of the 2025-26 campaign. The in-house venture follows years of instability in France’s domestic rights market and is designed to give clubs a more predictable revenue stream while curbing piracy. The new service gets its first live test on 15 August when Rennes host Marseille in the opening match of the 2025-26 season, followed by Lens against Lyon the next day. The league hopes the combination of a lower entry price, wider distribution and high-profile player arrivals—from Paul Pogba at Monaco to Olivier Giroud at Lille—will lure fans back to French football broadcasts.
