The French consumer association UFC-Que Choisir has revealed that approximately 85% to 90% of price promotions on major e-commerce websites are false. An analysis of nearly 1,000 listings with crossed-out prices from six leading online retailers showed that only 15% of these marked prices represent genuine discounts. The association warns that misleading promotional practices are widespread in online sales, with most price reductions being fictitious rather than real markdowns. This finding highlights ongoing concerns about deceptive advertising tactics in the digital commerce sector.
