Sein gutdotiertes Bundestagsmandat will der Grünen-Politiker womöglich trotzdem behalten. https://t.co/G6vQV5iCBd
Was macht Robert Habeck künftig?
Former German economy minister Robert Habeck will join the Danish Institute for International Studies in Copenhagen as a senior fellow, according to a notice in the Federal Gazette released on 8 July. The 55-year-old Green Party politician, who speaks Danish and studied in the country, also intends to take up guest professorships at universities outside Europe and accept paid speaking engagements. The Chancellery raised no objections to the move, concluding it does not conflict with the 18-month cooling-off rules that apply to former cabinet members. Those rules allow the government to block post-ministerial jobs if public interests could be compromised; in this case, officials saw none. Habeck has yet to decide whether he will retain his Bundestag seat for the Flensburg-Schleswig constituency, where he sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee. He continues to plan a public discussion series titled “Habeck live” at Berlin’s Berliner Ensemble from October.
