Brian Campbell captured the John Deere Classic on Sunday, defeating Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo with a par on the first sudden-death hole at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. The win came after both players closed regulation at 18-under-par 266, forcing the tournament’s 11th playoff—and its first since 2015. Campbell, 32, found the fairway on the par-4 18th while Grillo’s errant tee shot led to bogey, allowing the American to secure victory with a routine par. The result gives Campbell a perfect 2-0 playoff record this season and drops Grillo to 2-2. The unheralded Californian becomes the sixth player with multiple PGA Tour victories in 2025, joining Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Sepp Straka, Ben Griffin and Ryan Fox. Campbell’s first triumph came in February at the Mexico Open, which he also won in extra holes. Sunday’s title is worth $1.44 million from the tournament’s $8.4 million purse, lifting Campbell’s season earnings and bolstering his chances of earning a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team later this year.
