Merchant Bian Wei Long has been sentenced to two weeks in jail and fined HK$10,000 for bribing staff at CCB (Asia) to expedite account openings. Law Tsz Hin, one of the bank staff involved, received only six weeks in prison for accepting bribes from six clients. In other legal news, the ex-executive director of Times Universal, Gan Lin, and ex-executive director of GSN, Li Nian, have been sanctioned by the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong for failing to cooperate with an investigation. Additionally, former China CITIC banker Wu Kam Shing has been ordered to pay HK$3 million in illegal gains from insider trading related to Bloomage BioTechnology prior to its 2017 privatization. AIA has been fined HK$23 million by the Insurance Authority for anti-money laundering oversights. The Ministry of Finance has also imposed penalties on an accountant and an overseas accounting firm for business violations. Lastly, a man named Lam Chung Kan was convicted of laundering HK$125 million in crime proceeds from fraudulent loans associated with Sunway.
