
Recent reports indicate a surge in cyber fraud incidents across India, particularly in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Two residents of Bengaluru fell victim to deep fake videos involving prominent figures Narayana Murthy and Mukesh Ambani, losing approximately ₹90 lakh. Additionally, a 50-year-old businessman in Bengaluru lost ₹6.6 crore after being lured into a fraudulent online stock trading scheme via WhatsApp. In Hyderabad, a 74-year-old pensioner was duped out of ₹37.90 lakh by scammers impersonating Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) agents. The Mangaluru police have also arrested two individuals linked to a multi-state scam targeting an e-commerce giant. These incidents highlight the growing prevalence of cyber scams in the region, prompting warnings for citizens to remain vigilant against potential fraud.
