






The total market capitalization of companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has surpassed the $5 trillion mark after three months, marking a recovery from a previous dip to $4.5 trillion. This milestone places India among four countries, including the US, China, Japan, and Hong Kong, with market capitalizations exceeding $5 trillion. The recent rally in the Indian equity market was partly driven by tariff concessions granted to India, providing exporters with a short-term advantage. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have been net buyers, purchasing shares worth approximately ₹4,668 crore on April 17 and totaling ₹14,670 crore over five sessions. Between April 15 and 21, FIIs invested over $1.9 billion in Indian equities, with additional provisional inflows of ₹1,290 crore recorded on April 22. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) showed mixed activity, with net buying of ₹247 crore on April 21 but net selling of ₹886 crore on April 22. Overall, the market capitalization rose by ₹31.2 lakh crore in five sessions to ₹425.83 lakh crore, making India the top-performing major market globally over the past week.
