The Centre has cleared the appointment of Chief Justices in eight High Courts following the intervention of the Supreme Court. The High Courts include Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Madras (Tamil Nadu), and Jharkhand. Justice Tashi Rabstan has been appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, while Justice M S Ramachandra Rao has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. These appointments come after the Supreme Court Collegium amended some of its recommendations made on July 11. The President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has also appointed additional judges as permanent judges in the Madras High Court. Additionally, the Supreme Court’s Practice and Procedure Committee has been reconstituted.
