Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna has recused himself from hearing petitions that challenge a new law regarding the appointment of Election Commissioners (ECs). The law has been criticized for allegedly giving the Central government excessive influence over the appointment process. This development was reported by multiple news outlets, indicating its significance in the context of the upcoming elections. The Supreme Court is expected to continue addressing related legal matters, but the absence of Chief Justice Khanna from this case raises questions about the future handling of such petitions.
