India has entered the execution phase of its Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project, aimed at developing a fifth-generation stealth fighter jet. The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has invited Indian companies to submit expressions of interest by August 16 to participate in the development, testing, certification, and production of the AMCA prototypes. The project is planned to span eight years. This initiative represents one of India's most ambitious aerospace programs, focusing on indigenous design and manufacturing capabilities. However, there is ongoing debate within defense circles about whether India should continue to pursue self-reliance through the AMCA or consider importing fighter jets to address immediate operational needs. Experts emphasize the necessity for India to develop supersonic stealth aircraft, including unmanned variants, to counter regional threats from Pakistan and China. Meanwhile, Pakistan is reportedly modernizing its air force with support from China and Turkey, enhancing its capabilities in advanced fighters, air defense, and long-range weapons.
