
Jharkhand Rural Development Minister and Congress leader Alamgir Alam has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case. The arrest follows the recovery of a substantial amount of cash, reportedly around Rs 32-37 crore, including Rs 36.75 crore, from the household help of his personal secretary, Sanjeev Lal. Alamgir Alam had appeared before the ED for questioning over two consecutive days, including a 9-hour session, before his arrest. The ED's investigation pertains to alleged bribes in the rural development department and the Tender Commission scam. The arrest has sparked political reactions, with BJP leaders supporting the move and Congress leaders condemning it as politically motivated.
