In a series of operations across India, authorities have cracked down on illegal drug and medicine activities, uncovering a wide range of illicit operations. Medicines with a retail price of Rs 33 lakh, found to be just chalk and starch, were part of a shocking revelation by an Assocham study that 25% of all medicines in India are fake, counterfeit, or substandard. In Gurugram, a truck driver and helper were arrested with marijuana worth Rs 1 crore. Additional CP Sanjay Bhatia announced the busting of an illicit medicine factory in Shamli, leading to the arrest of Surender Mallick, the kingpin behind the operation. In a separate incident, one driver was taken into custody after approximately 13 pounds of marijuana were found in his car.
