A Special Court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in Mumbai has approved the monetization of assets worth ₹2,565.90 crore linked to businessman Mehul Choksi in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), in coordination with PNB and ICICI Bank, has initiated the restitution process, transferring properties worth over ₹125 crore to victims of the fraud. The assets include residential flats, factories in Mumbai, and properties linked to Gitanjali Gems Ltd in SEEPZ Mumbai. The monetization is part of efforts to recover funds from Choksi, who is accused of defrauding PNB and fleeing the country.
