The Supreme Court of India, led by CJI DY Chandrachud, has ordered the State Bank of India (SBI) to disclose comprehensive details of electoral bonds, including unique alphanumeric and serial numbers, ahead of the country's general election next month. This landmark ruling, issued on March 21, 2024, aims to enhance transparency in political financing by revealing the links between donors and recipient political parties. In compliance with the court's directive, SBI submitted all required information to the Election Commission of India (ECI), which has made the details public on its website before next month's general election. The disclosed data includes the bond numbers and denominations, along with the names of purchasers and beneficiary parties. Among the revelations, Future Gaming emerged as a significant donor, contributing Rs 509 cr to the Trinamool Congress, marking it as the largest beneficiary after the DMK.
