A scientist in Madhya Pradesh was duped of ₹71 lakh by a gang posing as officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The fraudsters conducted a 'digital arrest' to deceive the victim. In a related incident, a 33-year-old communications manager was also targeted by cyber fraudsters posing as cops from Hyderabad police and CBI officials. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) has issued a public advisory stating that CBI, police, customs, ED, or judges do not arrest people through video calls. Additionally, in another cyber fraud case, actor Rhea Chakraborty and others have been summoned by the Delhi Police in connection with a ₹500 crore app-based scam.
