The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction is reportedly preparing to sever its alliance with the Congress party and Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut stated that alliances such as the INDIA bloc and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are not necessary for local body elections in Maharashtra. Congress leaders, including Nana Patole, have refrained from commenting directly on Raut's remarks, emphasizing that local polls are fought independently. The possibility of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) joining the MVA alliance has been raised, but Congress has indicated that any such decision would be made by its High Command.
