
The Startup Mahakumbh 2024, a landmark event in the Indian startup ecosystem, concluded with remarkable participation from over 2,000 startups, 1,000 investors, and more than 100 unicorns. Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the achievements of the Indian startup sector, including the establishment of over 1.25 lakh startups and 110 unicorns, generating employment for over 12 lakh people. Modi emphasized the pivotal role of startups in advancing India towards becoming the 3rd largest global economy and highlighted the announcement of a ₹1 lakh crore fund for Research and Innovation. He also noted that women are leading more than 45% of Indian startups, showcasing the gender inclusivity in the ecosystem. The event underscored the Startup India initiative's success in fostering a vibrant startup culture that extends beyond metro cities and spans various sectors such as agriculture, space, and technology, making India the world's 3rd largest startup ecosystem. The Prime Minister's address reaffirmed the government's commitment to creating an enabling environment for startups, with initiatives like the Digital India mission and the UPI system promoting financial inclusion.
