Supreme Court Calls for Reform of SC/ST Reservation System, Government to Decide on Creamy Layer

The Supreme Court of India has indicated that it will address the issue of the 'creamy layer' within the SC/ST reservation system. The court emphasized that it is the responsibility of the legislature and executive to reform the reservation system, stating that '75 years of benefits is enough.' The court's remarks suggest a potential reevaluation of the criteria for beneficiaries of quotas, particularly regarding those who have already reaped the advantages of such provisions. Further discussions and decisions from the government are anticipated as the Supreme Court prepares to provide its perspective on the matter.
