The Supreme Court of India has refused bail to Sanjiv Bhatt, a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Gujarat, in connection with a custodial death case dating back to 1990. Bhatt, who was expelled from the IPS, had sought bail which was denied by the court. The Supreme Court has also directed the lower court to expedite the trial proceedings in this matter. Bhatt was convicted in the case, and the Supreme Court's decision upholds the lower court's ruling by rejecting his bail plea.
