The Supreme Court of India has requested the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to file a final report regarding allegations that public contracts in Arunachal Pradesh were awarded to companies owned by relatives of Chief Minister Pema Khandu. The court emphasized the need for transparency in the matter, urging the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to respond to a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the current CAG appointment procedure. Additionally, the Supreme Court is set to hear a series of petitions on April 16 concerning the law that alters the appointment process for the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners, specifically excluding the Chief Justice of India from the appointment panel. The court has also appointed Ranjit Kumar as amicus curiae in the case regarding the Lokpal's jurisdiction over high court judges, which is under scrutiny following a Lokpal order for a probe against a sitting high court judge.
