Tamil Nadu on 16 July opened the Kalaignar Dr. M. Karunanidhi Integrated Bus Terminal in Panjappur, Tiruchirappalli, bringing the ₹408 crore facility into public use after final maintenance and development work was completed. State Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru flagged off the first set of buses from the fully air-conditioned terminus, which is intended to streamline inter-city and intra-city services in the region. The terminal had been formally inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on 9 May. Its commissioning marks one of the largest recent transport infrastructure additions in central Tamil Nadu.
