Indonesia and the United States have commenced the annual Super Garuda Shield 2025 military exercises, involving a total of 13 nations and over 5,400 troops. The drills include 4,100 Indonesian soldiers and 1,300 U.S. personnel, alongside forces from 11 allied countries. This marks the largest Asia-Pacific military exercise ever assembled under this program, with activities taking place across Jakarta, Sumatra, and Riau. The exercises feature live-fire drills and cyber operations, aiming to enhance regional security and deterrence capabilities. While the U.S. has encouraged its allies to address security challenges posed by China, officials have emphasized that the exercises are not directed specifically against Beijing. The multinational drills underscore a demonstration of military strength and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
