Law enforcement agencies, including Europol, have successfully dismantled a major phishing-as-a-service platform known as iServer, in an operation codenamed OP KAERB. The platform was responsible for unlocking over 1.2 million stolen or lost mobile phones and affecting 483,000 victims globally. The crackdown, reported by Security Affairs, resulted in the arrest of seventeen suspects and the seizure of 921 devices. In a related development, the Necro Trojan malware has resurfaced, infecting over 11 million Android devices through Google Play apps, including popular applications like Wuta Camera. The malware can run malicious code, subscribe to paid services, and create device tunnels, using steganography to evade detection.
