The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued multiple warnings regarding a surge in cyber threats targeting various user groups, particularly YouTube creators and IoT device owners. The FBI highlighted the use of brute-force password attacks as part of ongoing espionage campaigns, with hackers exploiting vulnerabilities in devices such as web cameras and DVR systems. Specifically, the FBI noted that over 20,000 DrayTek routers have been compromised through ransomware attacks utilizing zero-day exploits. Additionally, reports indicate that malware disguised as fake business proposals is targeting YouTube creators, further emphasizing the need for enhanced cybersecurity measures. The FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have urged users to remain vigilant against these threats, which also include credential-stealing tactics aimed at Google users through Calendar and Gmail-based attacks.
