OpenAI's official Newsroom account on X was compromised on September 23, 2024, marking the fourth such incident in the past 15 months. The account was used by crypto scammers to promote a fraudulent cryptocurrency token called '$OPENAI' and a phishing site. Users were warned not to click on any links or provide any information related to the scam. This incident follows a similar breach just two days earlier involving the account of Jason Wei, a researcher at OpenAI. The company has been urged to enhance its security measures, including implementing two-factor authentication (2FA) to prevent further breaches.
