Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky reported that over 7 million accounts linked to streaming platforms including Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video were compromised in 2024. Additionally, a data leak exposed 18 crore (180 million) passwords from users of major services such as Google, Facebook, and Apple, with the data stored in unsecured text format. In response to these breaches, users are urged to update their passwords promptly to protect their accounts. Microsoft has also announced that passwords saved in its Authenticator app will be deleted starting this summer, encouraging users to switch to the Edge browser to retain autofill privileges. These developments highlight growing concerns over password security and data protection for popular online services.
