A new Android malware named PlayPraetor has infected over 11,000 devices by impersonating Google Play Store pages and exploiting accessibility settings to livestream screens and steal banking and cryptocurrency credentials. Additionally, a large-scale scam involving more than 15,000 fake TikTok Shop domains is deploying malware to steal login information and cryptocurrency using AI-generated videos and trojan apps that mimic social media influencers. Experts warn that passwords, crypto wallet data, and other sensitive financial information are being widely targeted and stolen. Other related scams include malware spread through Facebook ads disguised as cryptocurrency exchanges and fraudulent campaigns using fake ICE raids at retail stores like Target and Walmart to harvest personal data.
