Irish housebuilder MKN Property Group has dismissed over half of its staff after running out of projects to build, company director Brian McKeon said. The family-owned firm blamed a prolonged shortage of viable planning permissions, which has left developments stalled and construction materials idle. McKeon added that the company had already purchased about €1 million worth of precast walls that are now sitting unused in a field in Cavan, underscoring how delays in the planning system are stranding capital and hitting employment in the sector.
