Yemen’s Houthi-aligned Armed Forces said they struck and sank the cargo vessel ETERNITY C on 9 July while it was sailing toward the Israeli port of Umm al-Rashrash, also known as Eilat. Military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the ship was hit by an unmanned explosive boat and six cruise and ballistic missiles, causing it to go under. The crew was rescued, according to the statement. The group released photographs of the attack and said full video of the operation would be published at 9:15 p.m. local time. Saree said the strike enforced a previously announced Yemeni ban on vessels bound for Israeli ports. The incident adds to a series of maritime attacks claimed by the Houthis, who have pledged to disrupt shipping linked to Israel amid the ongoing regional conflict.
