Ahead of the 96th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, a significant number of Hollywood writers, actors, and film workers organized a 'Free Palestine' march to protest against what they describe as an ongoing genocide. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) increased security measures around the Dolby Theatre in anticipation of the protests. On the Oscars red carpet, several celebrities, including Billie Eilish, Ramy Youssef, and Finneas O'Connell, wore red pins to show their support for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict. These pins also symbolize a call for increased humanitarian aid and the release of all hostages. The protest, which aimed to disrupt the Oscars ceremony, resulted in attendees being forced to exit their cars and walk to the venue. The Oscars ceremony itself was delayed by five minutes due to the protests.
Billie Eilish, Mark Ruffalo and Ramy Youssef were among the artists seen wearing the pins on the red carpet. https://t.co/yIMAb0cdkS
