Italian authorities arrested 25 individuals in Reggio Calabria as part of a crackdown on a migrant trafficking ring that organized voyages to Italy, including the involvement of smugglers. The operation targeted a network that reportedly facilitated over 30 migrant landings, generating an estimated 10 million euros in revenue. The trafficked migrants were allegedly brought to Italy from Turkey. In a broader international effort, Interpol dismantled a human trafficking network resulting in 158 arrests across 43 countries. This global operation uncovered cases of sexual exploitation, forced criminality, and forced begging, identifying over 1,000 victims worldwide.
