Japan's former Emperor Akihito, aged 91, has been hospitalized at the University of Tokyo Hospital to receive new medication treatment for heart conditions. The hospitalization was prompted by a lack of improvement in his previously diagnosed asymptomatic myocardial ischemia and right heart failure. The Imperial Household Agency confirmed that the new treatment aims to address these ongoing cardiac issues. Akihito was initially diagnosed with asymptomatic myocardial ischemia in May, and the decision to admit him for medication adjustment reflects the need for enhanced management of his heart condition.
