Recent public opinion polls on Japan's Ishiba Cabinet reveal a largely stagnant approval rating with some variation across different surveys. The Mainichi Shimbun poll conducted on June 28-29 reported a support rate of 24%, unchanged from the previous survey, while disapproval stood at 61%. Approximately 66% of respondents expressed opposition to the government's cash handout policy. The Yomiuri Shimbun poll indicated a higher approval rating of 32%, with 45% approving the government's rice policy. An NHK survey conducted before the Upper House election showed a 5-point decline to 34% approval. A JNN poll released on July 6 reported a 1.8-point drop to 32.8%. Meanwhile, an annual poll cited by Financial Juice and First Squawk indicated the approval rating remained steady at 29.1%. Additionally, a joint survey found that nearly half (49%) of those who disapprove of the Ishiba Cabinet intend to vote for opposition party candidates, while only about 10% plan to support ruling party candidates. Support among demographic groups varies, with younger and middle-aged voters showing higher backing for certain parties.
