Japanese digital-asset investment company Metaplanet said it purchased an additional 775 Bitcoin for roughly $90–93 million, lifting its total holdings to 18,888 coins. At prevailing market prices, the stack is valued at about $2.2 billion. The latest acquisition puts the Tokyo-listed firm 60.4% of the way toward its target of owning 30,000 Bitcoin by the end of 2025. Metaplanet has spent around $1.94 billion accumulating the cryptocurrency so far, according to disclosures cited by industry media. Corporate treasuries have been expanding their Bitcoin exposure more broadly. Data compiled by crypto outlets show that Strategy—the enterprise-software company formerly known as MicroStrategy—and BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund now control a combined 1.38 million coins, worth about $163 billion and equal to roughly 6.6% of Bitcoin’s fixed supply. Strategy alone holds more than twice the amount attributed to the U.S. government and exceeds the combined reserves of the next 99 largest institutional holders.
