Okinawa Shogaku High School won its first-ever Summer Koshien national high school baseball championship by defeating Nihon University Third High School (Nihon Dai San) from West Tokyo with a score of 3-1 in the final. This victory marks the first time Okinawa Shogaku has claimed the title and the first time an Okinawa team has won the summer tournament in 15 years, the previous being Kounan High School in 2010. The championship was the 107th edition of the national tournament. Following their win, the Okinawa Shogaku team returned to Okinawa where they were warmly welcomed by large crowds at Naha Airport. The players, led by their captain carrying the championship flag, received applause and cheers from local supporters celebrating their historic achievement.
