The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has formally rejected Kenya's appointment of Judy Kiaria Nkumiri as Consul-General to Goma, a city currently under the control of the M23 rebel group. Kinshasa protested the appointment, citing the illegal occupation of Goma by M23 and demanding prior consultation before any diplomatic postings in the region. This diplomatic dispute coincides with Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) naming Consolata Wakwabubi to replace Gloria Orwoba as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominated senator.
