Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have intensified their cooperation following recent peace agreements. They are set to hold a joint security cooperation mechanism meeting on August 7 in Addis Ababa. Both countries have agreed to connect new infrastructure to the U.S.-backed Lobito Corridor, enhancing regional connectivity. Additionally, Rwanda and the DRC have convened the first meeting of a joint oversight committee under their peace deal and have agreed on an outline for an economic framework as part of the agreement. In parallel developments, Rwanda has reached an agreement with the United States to receive up to 250 migrants deported from the U.S. This move is part of broader migration management efforts between the two countries. Separately, the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) plan to merge their Congo peace efforts with the African Union to strengthen regional stability.
