Kenya’s 2025 Devolution Conference has begun in Homa Bay County, drawing delegates from the country’s 47 devolved units for a week-long review of county governance and service delivery. Organisers opened the meeting on 12 August with trade exhibitions that spotlight agriculture and health innovations, themes expected to dominate the agenda. President William Ruto is scheduled to formally open the gathering on 13 August. In preparation, county and national agencies have announced public-health measures that include distributing 50,000 condoms at the venue. Delegates will also tour stands set up by government departments, private companies and civil-society groups to showcase projects financed under Kenya’s devolution framework.
