Kenya’s Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority trimmed the retail prices of Super Petrol and kerosene by Sh1 a litre in its latest monthly review, while leaving diesel unchanged. The new tariffs apply from 15 August to 14 September across the country, EPRA Director General Daniel Kiptoo said in a statement issued Thursday night. In Nairobi, motorists will now pay Sh185.31 for a litre of petrol, Sh171.58 for diesel and Sh155.58 for kerosene. Similar adjustments have been made in other major cities, with price differences reflecting transport costs. EPRA attributed the marginal reduction to a 0.73% fall in the average landed cost of imported petrol between June and July, to US$623.71 per cubic metre. Landed costs for diesel and kerosene rose 3.08% and 3.20% respectively, but the regulator opted to keep diesel prices steady and offset part of the kerosene increase through tax and margin adjustments. All quoted pump prices include 16% value-added tax and excise duties as set out in recent finance legislation.
